Baton Rouge, Louisiana Since 1997

We grew up in Troop 205. Now it’s your scout’s turn.

Seven scouts started Troop 205 at Parkview Baptist Church in 1997. Today the troop is led by some of those same scouts and the Eagle Scouts who came after them, and they’re ready to pass on everything the troop taught them to the next generation.

Where it started

It started with seven scouts.

In March 1997, Scoutmaster Steve Taylor started Troop 205 at Parkview Baptist Church with seven charter scouts: Michael Hughes, Jonathan Wade, Brandon Taylor, Adam Brandon, Eric Killen, Ryan Lee, and Adam Cutrer.

The photo albums from those first few years are full of summer camp, Courts of Honor, and a lot of familiar faces. Some of those faces are the ones leading the troop today.

The Scouting experience

What scouts actually do

In a Scouts BSA troop, young people lead the way. They take turns running meetings, planning outings, learning outdoor skills, and helping their community, with adult volunteers there to guide them.
